Veterans Day is a time to honor and express gratitude to all men and women who have served in the U.S. military, both living and deceased. On this day, we unite to show our respect for veterans. Originally known as Armistice Day, it began as a way to remember the bravery of those who lost their lives in service to our country. Observed on November 11, this date marks the anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War I. The first celebration of “Veterans Day” took place in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1947.
