About the Role
Lakeland Manufacturing is seeking a Quality Lead to serve as the technical authority for inspection systems, metrology, and calibration at our Alexandria MN facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines advanced measurement expertise (including CMM programming) with day-to-day leadership of Quality Inspectors. You will play a critical role in ensuring product conformity, maintaining audit readiness, and supporting customer requirements in a low-mix, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Location: Alexandria, MN
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Targeted Compensation Range: $65,000 - $70,000/yr depending on experience
What You’ll Do
Metrology & CMM Leadership
Develop and maintain CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs using engineering drawings, CAD models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Optimize inspection routines for accuracy and production throughput
Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and validation activities
Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and Production Park Approval Process (PPAP) requirements
Calibration & Measurement Systems
Own site-wide calibration system to ensure audit readiness
Maintain traceable calibration records aligned with ISO 9001 and customer requirements
Coordinate external calibration providers and troubleshoot inspection equipment
Team Leadership
Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to Quality Inspectors
Train team on measurement techniques, blueprint reading, and standardized work
Support inspections during peak demand or complex dimensional reviews
Quality Decision-Making & Improvement
Evaluate and disposition nonconforming material (Material Review Board participation)
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, CAPA)
Partner with Production, Engineering, and Sales to resolve quality issues and improve process capability
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of manufacturing quality experience (machining or fabrication preferred)
Hands-on Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming experience (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar)
Strong understanding of:
Blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Quality systems, audits, and compliance
Statistical Process Control (SPC), Corrective and Prevention Action (CAPA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and control plans
Experience leading or mentoring quality inspectors preferred
Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
Equivalent hands-on experience strongly considered
