Our Story
Lakeland Manufacturing Inc. has been serving the agriculture, hydraulic, electro-mechanical and OEM industries globally from our central Minnesota location since 1989. Our capabilities include machining, tooling and milling, and long and short production runs.

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an Operations Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the machine shop, including programming, production, quality assurance, and shipping. This role ensures that customer expectations are met through efficient scheduling, and timely delivery, while maintaining compliance with safety and ISO standards.

This role is based at our Alexandria, MN location. This is a safety sensitive position.

What You Will Do

Leadership & Personnel Management

- Assign, prioritize, and schedule daily departmental activities.
- Instruct, mentor, coach, discipline, and evaluate personnel to foster a productive and positive work environment.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Continuous Improvement

- Drive Lean concepts geared toward improving efficiency.

- Identify opportunities for automation to enhance productivity.
- Plan and implement systems, projects, and procedures using lean manufacturing principles, including 80/20 and 5S tools.

Production & Scheduling

- Create and manage production schedules using ERP/MRP software.
- Coordinate workflow to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality or safety.
- Meet or exceed productivity goals related to returned merchandise, late orders, safety, and receiving.

Quality Assurance

- Drive quality outputs that exceed customer expectations and comply with QMS requirements.
- Ensure facility compliance with ISO standards.
- Generate reports on production performance, quality metrics, and cost analysis.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HazMat, SDS, and other governmental regulations.
- Maintain safety program requirements and promote a safe working environment.
- Oversee scheduled maintenance for all equipment and buildings.

Inventory & Shipping

- Ensure compliance with inventory procedures and controls.
- Maintain inventory integrity and oversee shipping operations.


 

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience in machining and supervising in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong familiarity with lathe equipment, milling and saw shop equipment is required. 

- Knowledge of Mazak machines and programming is required.

- Knowledge of Job Boss software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and ISO standards.
- Strong customer orientation and understanding of OSHA requirements.
- Experience with Lean and 5S methodologies preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required.

Target compensation: $90,000-110,000k/year
